Genesis Core 40 2010 £999.99
INTRODUCTION:
Core
the aluminium hardtail thats dead-centre, always on target. Its
fast, light and accurate with a trail-tested geometry thats capable of
taking lines that may surprise you. Tapered and ovalised triple-butted
6069 ALX-9 (Core 40 and 50) or double-butted 6061 (Core 10, 20 and 30)
heat-treated aluminium tubes let us tune the ride feel to avoid
harshness as well as keeping the weight down and strength up. The Core
frame design needs a durable part list, so all Shimano brakes and
gears, SR and Rockshox forks plus details such as spline-axle cranks,
400mm seat posts, shorter stems and wider bars are all standard
specifications.
OVERVIEW:
Lower
weight, maximum adaptability. The Core 40 uses our 6069 ALX-9
triple-butted aluminium frame to shave weight yet retain strength, plus
a Recon 351 U-Turn fork that adapts to different terrain and riding
styles. The Core geometry is optimized for the 85-130m of travel
available and the overall low weight and capable handling feel is a
potent combination on any trail..
TECHNOLOGY:
The
Core series frame uses shaped and extruded tubes that are selected to
offer a smooth and accurate ride at a low weight. We reject curvy,
hydroformed fashions in order to have greater control over wall
thicknesses and tube integrity and use a greater range of tube
dimensions across different frame sizes than we could if using
hydroformed tubes. Overall frame weight is now between two and four
ounces lighter than our previous Core frame design. For a structure
that has to cope with forces as dynamic as a bike frame does, tubes are
still hard to beat in terms of stiffness to weight balance. By simply
tapering or ovalising the main frame tubes in the right places we can
tune the levels of stiffness in various parts of the frame, on larger
frames we use larger diameters and / or thicker wall tubes so that even
at the entry-level of the Core range, a 20.5″ frame uses a different
tube set to the 16″ frame, ensuring that everyone gets the right level
of stiffness and strength, not too much, not too little, just a great
ride feel.
